Soaring of Birds

Bird Resting

There are over 200 species of birds around Lebh Shomea, including this Eastern Bluebird. Many birds are migratory, but some stay year 'round. The naturally preserved wilderness around Lebh Shomea is a bird-watcher's paradise, inhabited by some birds that are extremely difficult to see elsewhere in the U.S. such as Northern Beardless-Tyrannulet, Tropical Parula, Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl, Scott's and Audubon's Orioles.

In this wintry picture, the buzzards in the upper center are resting before setting out again to ride the winds.

Circling Vulture

This is a soaring vulture seeking an afternoon meal. Such solitary flights symbolize flights of spirit into the depths of spiritual consciousness as well as riding the winds of the Spirit to be taken where the Spirit wills.

Turkeys can be seen any time of year (although fewer appear around Thanksgiving and Christmas...)
